SVMA Train the Trainer Series Continues in 2022
On February 3rd, the first SVMA Train the Trainer workshop of 2022 was held at the new Folsom High School Advanced Manufacturing facility. Twelve manufacturing teachers, representing 10 local high schools and eight school districts gathered and participated in a hands on-training led by Kevin Pharis, Selway, Application Engineer. The focus of the 3 hour training was ‘CNC Machine Set-up Theory’. Participants engaged in lively discussion around: tool holding, work offsets, edge finding, work touch off, and collet maintenance. Di Jin and Tim Paul from the AutoDesk Fusion 360 Education team provided sandwiches, chips and drinks for all, and contributed to the lively discussions.
Scott Federick, Siemens Mobility, stopped by on his way home from work and spoke briefly to the group about the various entry level training programs Siemens offers. The information and opportunity was at a perfect time for these teachers to share with their graduating seniors.
A special thanks to Steve Dicus and Kevin Pharis for their unwavering support for continuing education for the region’s career technical education (CTE) instructors.
The second CNC training session will occur on March 3 at Folsom HS. Manufacturers and educators are encouraged to participate! For more information, contact SVMA executive director, Dean Peckham, dpeckham@sacvalleymfg.org, or Steve Dicus at stevedicus@gmail.com
