Snowline Engineering hosted a fabulous BBQ and Call to Arms on May 9 to introduce manufacturers to the mission, vision and goals of SVMI and the need to develop an advanced 21st century workforce in the Sacramento region. The event kicked off the Workforce Development Committee as well as our membership drive. The meeting was highlighted by a tour of the Snowline Engineering facility.

Educators and manufacturers came together for learning and collaboration on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018 at Siemens rolling stock manufacturing facility in Sacramento, California. Education administration officials from Elk Grove Unified School District, Sacramento City College and California Department of Education attended the event. Also in attendance were manufacturers from across the area, including Hose and Fitting, etc. and Snowline Engineering. After the tour, Donnetta Web, Dean of Advanced Technology Division, Sacramento City College presented their plans to develop a Product Design Engineering Technology A.S. degree.

Educators and manufacturers came together for learning and collaboration on Wed, May 2nd, 2018 at Harris & Bruno in Roseville, California. Education administration officials from Folsom-Cordova Unified School District, the CA Community Colleges and manufacturing leaders from Garner Products, JL Haley and Ceratizit participated in the tour and discussed opportunities for students to pursue careers in manufacturing. After the tour, the participants traveled to Sierra College for a tour of the new Gene Haas Center for Advanced Manufacturing by Design. Attendees learned about the latest technologies and exposure to the entire spectrum of manufacturing and career pathways for students graduating from Sierra College.

A dedicated group of manufacturers met at the Power Inn Alliance to begin the process of bringing a manufacturing alliance to Sacramento. Committees were formed, working groups were created. Energy and commitment filled the room. SVMI was born.
