SVMI at the Manufacturers Advisory Forum

SVMI VP Joe Wernette, CEO of Tri Tool, represented SVMI at Congressman Garamendi’s Manufacturing day advisory forum where he was able to share SVMI’s outreach to schools, educators and local officials.

SVMI Rocklin High School Outreach

Michelle Stofan, vice president of Garner Products spoke to Rocklin High School students during the Manufacturing Week student outreach. “I had a great group of students that were very interested in what I had to say. I brought my PD-5 and SSD-1 physical destroyers to show them. The minute it went on the table, I had students asking me questions and fully
engaged. My 10-minute presentation turned into 45 minutes of questions,
stories and them showing us their projects,” Michelle said about the student enthusiasm she experienced.

Sacramento Recognizes Manufacturing Month

On October 16th, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Sacramento recognized October 2018 as Manufacturing Awareness and Appreciation Month. The resolution presented to SVMI president Kevin McGrew among others noted the importance of “increasing the exposure of manufacturing careers within our local area to our students, educators, media and politicians to bridge the gap in skilled labor shortage and create viable career pathways for students and adults.”
